Do you need a maths game to use as an introduction to friends of 10? Or do you simply need a maths game you can take on any casual day to engage a class? Here is a great maths game that all young students will love. It also assists students in identifying numbers, subitising numbers and representing numbers in different ways.

Simply print and laminate the cards to play.

Instructions to play include;

  • Cut out cards and laminate.
  • Distribute the cards among the small group of students as evenly as possible.
  • Students are not allowed to look at their cards. They take turns placing a card on top of the last card in the middle of the group.
  • When there is a card match, students must ‘snap’ – place their hand on the pile of cards.
  • Whoever snaps the pile first gets to keep the cards.
  • The student with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.
  • Card matches are ‘friends of ten’.
